Giclée Prints
- so what exactly is a Giclée print?
Explained simply, the name Giclée is
used for high-resolution, large-format digital printing with fade-resistant
pigmented inks so far advanced that major manufacturers now offer guarantees on
longevity and lightfastness.
Giclée
prints are now recognised by the Fine Art Trade Guild
who have set high standards for the lightfastness of inks and the quality of
paper. This has now become a recognised British Standard. Instead of the
traditional 4 colour printing I use a Giclée
printer with 7 colours, this permits the use of vibrant saturated colours with
outstanding graduation and without any loss of subtlety. New specialist
archival printing paper gives the artist incredible control and the ability for
stunning reproduction of his work that he could only dream of in the past.
The Giclée process is rapidly
replacing screen printing and lithography and becoming the most popular means
of reproducing works of fine art. The print quality is always outstanding as it
offers greater tone and definition, this, together with John being a devil for
quality, results in a faithful reproduction that matches the original painting
as near as is possible.
SMALL up to = 310 mm x 210 mm - Imperial
12.25 inches x 8.25 inches LARGE up to = 500 mm x 310 mm -
Imperial 19.5 inches x 12.25 inches
Just a thought, John personally checks each
print against the original, if it isn't quite right I have to do it again, and
again and....... . . . . until it is right. |
